What’s all the Hype about Boxed End Blankets?

A boxed end blanket is basically quilted microfibre fill encased in a microfibre cover and quilted. It could be likened to the continental blankets of yesteryear but fitted and stitched down at the bottom corners and minus the tuck-in flaps.

The beauty of a boxed end blanket is that it has the ends mitred and stitched so that when you fling it over the mattress it sits perfectly square at the bottom corners – no need to learn how to make hospital corners!

The boxed end blanket can be used on its own and comes in three neutral colourways – white, granite or mocha -to co-ordinate with most decors. Or you can choose to put a “top sheet” over it – this could be as simple as a plain white sheet, a sheet with a texture made especially for use as a top sheet, or a sophisticated top-end waffle blanket. The choice is up to you!

You can accessorise the boxed end blanket with a coloured or patterned throw and cushions to make the bed “pop” and these can be changed out easily in the future without having to re-purchase the main part of the bed.

The fill is normally a “year round” weight of 300gsm. For colder climates you could put one on top of another to create 600gsm of warmth and they will still sit nice and straight without looking bulky.

Boxed End quilts are quick and easy to launder, being microfibre they wash up well and dry quickly and economically on a low heat tumble or line dry and are the perfect choice for operators who want to save time and money in the housekeeping department whilst making their beds look inviting and comfortable.
